How CBD Oil Can Help You?

Is CBD Oil For You?

It seems like everywhere you go in the wellness and healthy lifestyle communities people are talking about CBD oil benefits.

This ‘new’ type of ‘medicine’ has been proposed as making significant changes in people’s well-being. CBD, along with other cannabinoids, have been shown to interact naturally within the human body. The main system it has been shown to interact with is called the endocannabinoid system. If you haven’t heard of it before don’t be surprised. It’s only really been known about for the last thirty years and even then not widely. It appears to be as essential as other systems, such as the respiratory system; however, it still isn’t taught in schools. So, here’s a crash course.

What You Should Know

The endocannabinoid system. Bit of a mouthful to say, right? But trust me, it’s a very important system within your body and it’s really essential for understanding CBD oil benefits.

Essentially, the endocannabinoid system is a biological system of cannabinoid receptors within the body. These receptors help your bodily functions in a variety of manners. Chemically they act a lot like naturally-occurring cannabinoids in our own bodies, such as anandamide.

You read that right, your body is creating cannabidiols all by itself.

These cannabinoid receptors exist all across your body right down to your hair follicles. There are two main types to know about. CB1 and CB2 receptors. These are responsible for a whole variety of bodily functions. Because of the power of this system, proposed CBD oil benefits can be seen with even small doses.

How Can It Help You?

The stimulation of these receptors in the body have been proposed to help with some of the following bodily functions:

  • Sleep
  • Stress
  • Digestion
  • Mood
  • Pain relief
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Inflammation
    …and many others

Using CBD oil triggers responses from these receptors and hopefully providing your body with some relief. We’ll explore a few those here.

Digestion

As we’ve mentioned there are cannabinoid receptors throughout the body. One of these, found in the digestive system, is called anandamide. This particular receptor aids the process of digestion. When this receptor is stimulated, those suffering from chronic stomach illnesses have sometimes found that their conditions are relieved. In some cases, people have reported no recurrence of their conditions.

Anxiety

Some of the cannabinoid receptors located in the brain are associated with emotions and control our moods. In a study done in Brazil one set of people were given oral doses of CBD at around 400 mg and a second group were given a placebo of corn oil. Amazingly, the group given the dosage of CBD reported a sharp decline in the feelings of anxiety they had. These studies suggest that CBD may prove beneficial for those suffering from generalized social anxiety disorder. Only time will tell how effective this can be.

Nausea

Studies have been done which show that CBD can be effective in dealing with nausea. It’s not uncommon for patients undergoing chemotherapy to be given CBD to help cope, specifically in the USA and Canada. Throughout that gruelling process patients undergo intense nausea and have to deal with vomiting and other stomach complaints. With low doses of CBD it may be possible to reduce nausea in not only cancer patients but also those experiencing general feelings of nausea.

Pain Relief

It can often feel as if there is never end to any of the pains our bodies go through. As an example, there are around 7.9 million people in the United Kingdom who claim to suffer from chronic pain. As we get older it can often be a case that chronic pain is something simply to be tolerated rather than eased. However, in clinical studies CBD was shown to have analgesic effects in treating those with chronic pain.

Relieve Inflammation

Perhaps one of the best qualities of CBD is its anti-inflammatory properties. In a study done in 2012 it was found that doses of CBD had benefits for those suffering from chronic inflammatory pain. Even modern athletes are catching this wave of using CBD, such as MMA star Nate Diaz. It helps them overcome muscle inflammation and their recovery times have been reportedly shortened. And if it’s good enough for world class performers then it’s definitely good enough for the everyday  person.
