High blood pressure - how CBD oil maybe able lower hypertension risk?
HIGH blood pressure risk could be reduced by making diet and lifestyle changes, also taking CBD oil supplements may help to lower the risk of hypertension symptoms?
This is how much cannabis oil high blood pressure sufferers would need to take everyday to make a difference to blood pressure readings.
High blood pressure affects more than 25 per cent of people in the UK, according to the NHS.
The risk of developing the condition could be reduced, which is also known as hypertension, by making changes to diet plans.
Adding cannabidiol (CBD) oil to the diet could help to lower blood pressure, revealed nutritionist Dr Sarah Brewer.
The oil has anti-anxiety and analgesic effects, which helps to relax blood vessels, scientists have claimed.
“New research suggests that taking a single dose of cannabidiol [CBD] oil can lower blood pressure before and after a stressful situation,” said Brewer, on her website MyLowerBloodPressure.com.
“Cannabidiol extracts are typically combined with olive oil, coconut oil or hemp seed oil to enhance absorption. They are available as capsules, gummies, drops and oral sprays.
“If you don’t mind the strong herbal flavour, then you can take cannabidiol as drops, a spray or as gummies.
“If you prefer to take cannabidiol in the form of a capsule, then Healthspan [for whom I act as a medical consultant] offer two strengths of pharmaceutical-grade cannabidiol in capsules which are easy to take.”
Manufacturers’ guidance on how much of their product to take should always be followed, she added.
CBD supplements could lower blood pressure by an average of 6/3mmHg, scientists have claimed.
But that included a relatively high dose of CBD in studies performed.
The supplements are increasingly being used to boost well-being and to help patients cope with anxiety and stress, said Brewer.
CBD doesn’t contain any psychoactive compounds that could produce a ‘high’.
“It does, however, interact with your brain’s own endocannabinoid system to damp down over-stimulation of brain receptors, reduce pain perception, ease anxiety, promote relaxation and improve sleep quality,” revealed the nutritionist.
Having high blood pressure puts extra stress on blood vessels and vital organs.
It also increases the risk of some deadly complications, including heart disease and strokes.
Hypertension often hasn’t got any symptoms. If blood pressure is extremely high, signs could include chest pain and dizziness.
Every adult over 40 years old should have their blood pressure checked at least every five years.
See a GP or pharmacist to have blood pressure checked.
